In an effort to help audiences find YOU, we have just launched Stickam Channels. All Stickam entertainers now have the option to classify themselves on one of the following channels: Comedy, Gaming, Music, Radio, Technology, or the excitingly named Other Shows, which is our miscellaneous category. This is only the beginning and we do plan to create additional channels in the near future. These channels are in addition to Stickam’s Social section.

We need you to now classify yourself into the most appropriate channel. You can select whichever channel you want from your My Account page. After you have selected your channel, please also be sure to fill out your Tags to let people know even more about your show (eg, cooking, fashion, sports, lifecaster, etc).

VERY IMPORTANT: we also need you to upload a new profile picture that will serve as a small banner image for your show. This image will display on our Live Streams and Schedule pages and should represent the content and style of show you plan to stream. Profile images in the Channel section should be significantly different than typical profile images in the Social section. We suggest that you add text to the image to display your show’s title.



Please note: the optimal size to make your profile picture is 480 pixels x 360 pixels. This will ensure that your pic will also display clearly in your image gallery and on your Stickam player. Upload your image profile from the Edit Media page.

Please also let us know your live schedule by filling out the calendar on your My Page and checking off the box that says "request to be featured." We will soon be launching a brand new Program Guide page and approved shows will be listed there.

You can now logout of your chatroom but keep the room open and not kick out users in your room.

To do this click the logout button in the upper right of your Host chat window.

You will get a popup window that asks if you would like to keep your room open. If you click yes you will disconnect from the room but all users in the room will remain. They can text chat and appear on video as usual.

If you go live again within 2 minutes or so, the users in your room will get this message and rejoin your room again.

Stickam Has added an additional caption style to your Live Chat room.

To activate go to your settings menu and choose the Captions Option.

Check the "Use newscrawl style captions" box.

Now click the Caption button below the send button in your chat.

This opens up the Caption Dialog box. FIll out a title and description.

Your New Caption will display at the bottom of your web cam screen.

New Front Page / Live Page
We have redesigned and re-laid out the front and who's live page. You can now sort users by their category (social, shows, music radio) and Rank, views, subscription and recent.

Rankings Page
The rankings listed on this page are determined by our StreamRank™ algorithm which takes into account billions and billions of exciting statistics. Basically, the more popular and active you are on the site the higher you'll rank. We're still refining this a bit so expect some fluctuations.

AIM Invites
You Can now invite your friends to your room by AIM. Just click the AIM Invite tab and select your friends and click the send button.

New Live Chat Player
THe new Live Chat Player allows you to enter the chatroom and go on cam without ever leaving the profile page. You can still go into the windowed version of the Live room by clicking the pop-out button.

Short Profile URL's
Profile links are now www.stickam.com/username instead of www.stickam.com/profile/username

Welcome to the first ever Stickam Casting Call. We are looking for an official Stickam Correspondent who will act as a Stickam show host for specific, designated events. The winner of this Casting Call will serve as an on-camera host for Stickam’s live coverage of the 2008 SXSW convention in Austin, TX. The person will be flown to Austin for the event, put up in a hotel, and receive $2,000. A panel of Stickam judges will narrow down the field of applicants and then, through online open voting, the Stickam Community will ultimately be the deciding factor on who gets the part!

Stickam Now allows you to subscribe to and be notified when a user adds a calendar event or goes live.

You can be notified by AIM, email or cell phone. Subscribing to a users Calendar adds their events on your Mypage Calendar.

Live description allows you to enter a description for your live chat that will appear on your profile and the top page player if you are featured. To enter a Live description press the Blue "Show Live Description" button in your Live Chat window.

This Opens The Live Description dialog box where you can input a 100 character limit text. Hit the submit button and the LIve description is automatically updated.

The Mae Shi rocked it live on Stickam last Sunday during the band’s highly anticipated first show featuring brand new members Bill Gray (14 Year Old Girls, Holi Buffaglo) and Marcus Savino (Silver Daggers), alongside vets Jon Gray and Jeff Byron. Through a myriad of rhythmic claps, nuanced vocals and a poppy electro synthesizer, the Mae Shi brought everyone to their feet and had the crowd screaming along at the top of their lungs. Pitchfork Media says of The Mae Shi, "If you're gonna abandon self-referential schizo-prog for pop structures and consonance, this is the way to go."

The new line-up is preparing to tour in support of upcoming new album HLLLYH. Founding members Tim Byron and Brad Breeck are continuing with the band, but will be focusing more of their energies on the studio and less on touring.

The Mae Shi returns to Stickam next Thursday, 12/20, from 12:30 – 1:05 PM PST for a concert from Los Angeles’s Le Conte Middle School. This will be (and, what we’re pretty sure is) the world’s first live indie rock webcast to stream from a middle school lunch PERIOD. Why would any one miss that Stickam first?!?!! “Le Conte-a-polooza” will also feature a skating exhibition by Emerica. After that, look for ongoing videoblogs from the band as they tour with punk rock pioneers The Germs and The Adolescents.

A new Stickam Player design has been added. New features with this player allow you to see active chats on the player itself and access the embed code from the menu.

When your Live chat privacy is set to everyone, you can view active chats on screen. To hide this, hit the X button.

Use the to reopen the chat.

To access media and get the embed code for this player press the button.

will give you the players embed code to add it to your website or blog.

You can now restrict the age of who enters your Live Chat. Users under 18 still automatically restrict 18+ users unless they are your friend.

While Live go to the Privacy section of your settings page. Enter in a minimum and maximum age value and click save. If a user is a friend the age restriction does not apply.

Live Invite allow you to invite other users to a One to One chat. One to One chat allows you to have a private video chatroom between two people.

When you first log in to Stickam you will see your Live Invite Status window.
From here you will see all live invites sent and received.

If you don't want to receive any invites, you can choose OFF and close the window. If you ever want the window to return you can by going to your Edit Preferences page and clicking the Open popup link.

You can also get to your Live Invite settings from your Edit Preferences page or by clicking the settings icon - - on your Live Invite Status window.

Sending a Live Invite

Click the Live Invite Icon and type a message. You can invite any user who is logged into Stickam.

Your Live Invite Status window will popup if you do not already have it open.

If the the person you invited accepts, the one to one chat window will popup.

Receiving a Live Invite

If you have Live Invitations set to On you will see a new Live Invite in either the popup window or if that is closed in the Notification Box above the nav bar. Clicking on it will launch the popup.

From here you can choose to:
Accept the invite and be launched into a One to One chat
or
Deny the invite and stop receiving further invites from that user for 5 minutes
or
Ignore and stop receiving invites form that user permanently.

To take someone off your ignore list click the settings icon - - on the Live Invite Status popup or in your Live Invite settings found on your Edit Preferences page.

Now your friends on Facebook will be able to view your live feed AND enter your host chat directly from Facebook! Bring your profile to life by adding your Stickam widget to your Facebook profile! You can "Go Live" from your Facebook profile or from your Stickam profile, as you would normally do (but, be sure to have your "Public Cam Off" unchecked before you launch your host chat from Stickam). Your privacy settings will be preserved as well, so Private/Members Only/Friends Only sessions will remain the same on Facebook.

It was announced today that there is a critical security vulnerability in Flash Player 9 that may allow attackers to gain access to transmit keystrokes from a user's machine. An article which details this vulnerability (as well as a couple of other vulnerabilities) can be found here:

Available now in all public chat rooms, One to one chat allows you to have a private video chatroom between two people.

To start a One to One chat, click a user's name on the user list and click the Invite to One To One Chat option. You cannot invite Mods or Admins to a One To One chat, they must invite you.

This will being up an invite message on their screen. If the user rejects your invitation, future invitations will be ignored as long as you are in the chatroom.

If the user accepts your invite you will get this screen. Click the launch button to begin your One To One chat.

In the upper left corner are your 3 control options.

- The Settings button opens up your flash settings, where you can select and adjust your webcam and audio.

- The Chat button Brings up a text chat screen. If you close the window and receive a new message, the icon turns orange.

- The Fullscreen button enlarges the One To One screen to fill your window.

Text chat cannot be used in fullscreen mode, you can read messages but not type. To be able to use text chat with an enlarged screen, maximize your browser window or, click and drag the right hand corner of the screen.

Stickam has launched a new home page with lots of cool new features to show off Live users. We are beginning to better track the number of viewers each stream has to more accurately keep track of the most popular users on Stickam.

Stickam Front Page Player:

This player displays the most popular live users from a pool of users Stickam Staff selects.

To show up on the top page player You must be over 18, not private or have your public cam off, and be selected by Stickam Staff. If you want to be added to the list email aaron@stickam.com.

If you have lots of Viewers (both people in the room, and people watching the cam) you will move to the top. Occasionally we feature users and they will show by default at the top.

Daily Popular shows:
This list displays the daily top 8 users who were live the previous day (from 6am the previous day - 6am today PST). The list is ordered by those with the most viewers (both people in the room, and people watching the cam).

The new info button on all host chats displays information on the number of people entering your room.

It opens a window that shows the total number of users who have entered your room or watched you since going live as well as the entire amount of users who are in the room or watching you.

A beta of our Live scheduling Calendar has been released for Stickam Entertainers.

You can find it linked on your My Page here.

From here you can select multiple dates for the next two months to schedule times for your Live shows.

Scheduled Live events appear at the bottom of the page. Here you can also delete events.

Scheduled events appear on your Profile page below your media.

In the future Stickam will use scheduled events to help determine who shows up on the front page as well as making a notification system for your friends.

By default your Friends list on the Mypage and Profile page displays any Live users on your Stickam Friends List. You can now add up to 12 friends you pick to be displayed as Featured Friends.

To Start got to the Featured Friends link on your My Page.

This takes you to your Featured Friends page.

From here you can browse and add anyone on your Friends List. Just click the button.

Once you've added up to 12 friends you can drag and drop in the order you want them to appear on your profile.

You can remove friends from the list by clicking the button.

You can also rename your Featured Friends list to anything you want.

When your done ordering and renaming your list click the button.

If you want the old style friend list to return, simply remove all the friends from your Featured list.

Update: New Mod Icons added and Sub-mods will now keep their status after leaving the room.

We have added moderation to user created chat rooms. You must create a chatroom to be its moderator.

Once you enter a public chatroom you have created you will have a Stickam mod logo next to your name, this signifies you are the main chatroom moderator. You can now kick any users out of your chatroom if you wish.

You can also choose another user in your room as a sub-moderator. Just select the user's name from the user-list and choose "Make Moderator."

Sub-mods will have a green Stickam Mod logo next to there name on the user list. They too can kick anyone out of the room, except for other moderators.

If the main moderator wants to remove moderation status from a sub-mod they can select their name from the user list and choose "Unmake Moderator".

The Video Mixer is a new feature for host chatrooms. It allows you to broadcast any videos uploaded to your stickam account or added to your playlist in your chatroom for all viewers to see. You can now be your own VJ or watch your favorite video simultaneously with all your friends in your stickam chatroom.

You'll notice the new Mixer button added to the host chat control bar.

Clicking on brings up the Video Mixer window.

From here you can see any videos added to your Stickam playlist in the Video Mixer pulldown.

After choosing a video, click the Broadcast button to play back the video to all users watching your Stickam player. The video will continuously loop. You can jump to another video by selecting another from the pulldown list.

To change back to your webcam, click the Broadcast button again.

If you want your mic to be heard over the video, click the Voiceover check box before clicking the Broadcast Button. Real time directors commentary anyone?

In your Videochat Settings window of the host chat you can now choose multiple quality settings for your Live Stream. If you have an older machine or a slow internet connection you can change your video quality settings to medium or low. You can also test your connection speed and get a recomendation on which quality settign to use.

Push To Talk is a new method to voice chat in your personal Host Chatroom.

When its set you and guests in your room push the Talk button on there video window to activate the mic.

To turn on this feature go to your chat settings -

Go to the Chat section of the Videochat settings.

Check the "Enable Push To Talk" box at the bottom of the page.

You can now choose to mute all users at one time in the chatrooms.

Just click the mute all button. Any new uesr going on cam will also be muted.

We have slightly updated the layout of the Stickam My Page.

You can now toggle between your messages and stats in the message window.

The friends area has been increased to show more live friends at one time. You can also view any of your friends that are having a birthday in the Upcoming Birthdays tab or friends who have updated there profile or media in the Friends Update tab.

Chatrooms created by 14-17 year olds cannot be acessed by users 18 and over. These protected chatrooms are represented by the shield icon -

Also any user 18 or older cannot enter a 14-17 year old users hosted chat unless they are that user's friend.

Today we released a few features and fixes to the site.

The Radio page now has a search by genre, other Entertainer pages will follow soon.

The personal tag search now sorts its entries by Live, Chatroom, online, offline, to help you better find live users with similar interests.
