rss3.jpg

We have just added the ability to add your YouTube videos RSS to your profile page.

Get a list of the different RSS feeds for YouTube here.

If you wanted to display your own videos on your profile simply use this model - http://www.youtube.com/rss/user/[insert username here]/videos.rss

For this How To I'll use my Stickam YouTube account which looks like: http://www.youtube.com/rss/user/stickam/videos.rss

I could also use a tag like: http://www.youtube.com/rss/tag/stickam.rss

rss1.jpg
To edit your RSS feed for your profile go to your My Page and click the Edit RSS Button in your My Control Panel.

rss2.jpg
Enter a name and the URL for the RSS feed. For now we only support YouTube RSS on the Profile so keep the Profile radio button selected. Hit submit and now your YouTube videos will appear listed on your profile.

There are still some bugs where some thumbnails dont show up but we are working on it.

We currently support Flickr RSS feeds as well and those can be added to your player. Hopefully we will add the ability to display your YouTube videos within the player soon.

Step by Step Guide to Broadcasting an Event Live!

We've gotten some questions on how Stickam has been broadcasting events like Mayday live from the street. Its fairly easy if you have the right equipment. Heres what you'll need:

1 - A laptop with a standard PC card slot.

2 - A wireless broadband card from Verizon or Sprint like this:
V620H4Web.jpg

3 - Webcam or DV cam.

4 - Backpack or messenger bag to carry your laptop in.

Once you have your Wireless card and web cam all set up with your laptop just login to Stickam and go live. Put your laptop in a backpack and your camera pointed at something interesting and there yah go, instant live streaming from anywhere!

How To: Setting Up Flash

After noticing some people having trouble setting up their webcam for Stickam I thought I'd make a quick help guide. If your webcam has the proper driver and is working with other applications but not on the Stickam site, it may have to do with your Flash settings being set wrong.

flash settings step 1.gif
The first step is to right click (or ctrl click for macs) any flash element on the Stickam page. Its easiest to just right click where your video should show up in your Go Live page. You should see a window like the one pictured above. Select Settings.

flash settings step 2.gif
This brings up the Flash Settings window for your browser. First off be sure to allow stickam to access your camera and mic and check the remember box.

flash settings step 3.gif
Next select the microphone tab and choose your mic input from the pull down menu.

flash settings step 4.gif
Now select the web cam tab and choose your camera input from the pull down menu. (If you have a built in iSight on a Mac - the input should be USB Class Video)

And that should do it. If for some reason your camera is not showing up in the pull down menu you may not have the driver properly installed or you may need to try a different browser.
