LOS ANGELES, Oct. 25 – As West Hollywood prepares for its highly-anticipated Halloween Costume Carnaval, the rapidly-growing broadcasting and social networking website Stickam (www.stickam.com) has announced plans to stream the world’s largest Halloween street party live on October 31.
Stickam will broadcast the festivities from the heart of flashy Santa Monica Boulevard. And with more than 450,000 enthusiastic party-goers expected at this year’s event, there should be no shortage of Halloween revelry for the site’s 170,000 plus members.
Visitors to Stickam’s special Halloween page will have access to three separate feeds of the 6-hour extravaganza, which features an outrageous costume contest, DJs and other musical performances.
In addition to the live broadcast of the 19th annual event, Stickam will also showcase special in-person commentary from one of online video's star attractions, GayGod.
As one of Stickam’s most popular live broadcasters (www.stickam.com/profile/gaygod), and YouTube’s 7th most subscribed to member (http://youtube.com/profile?user=GayGod), GayGod (aka Matthew Lush) will share his colorful observations direct from the event with some of his hundreds of thousands of online fans.
“It’s so cool, I’m really excited,” said Lush, who will be a first-time attendee at this year’s West Hollywood Halloween celebration.
In just three months, the popular video blogger and Los Angeles transplant has generated tens of thousands of views of his Stickam profile page.
Stickam’s unique multi-stream Halloween broadcast is part of a series of festivities featured on the site throughout October.
Today, Stickam kicks off its Halloween Costume Contest, featuring a $500 first place prize and webcams for 19 runners-up. Members can upload their videos and photos from a computer or cell phone, and vote for their favorite submissions on the site until November 6.

One of the new features our Labs team has been working on is the ability to design your own Stickam Player. I've been playing with it all week in preparation for the Adobe Max convention were attending next week. The cool thing is not only can it look anyway you want, it can also feature whatever parts of the Stickam Player you want. So you can make a video only player, or a player only for chat, or a combination photo/audio player; anything you can think of really.
Below is my retro TV style video player:

These past few weeks we’ve noticed something good spreading on Stickam: a growing number of popular YouTube personalities using the site to broadcast and chat live with their fans.
In fact, top all-time YouTubers like GayGod (http://www.stickam.com/profile/gaygod) and Boh3m3 (http://www.stickam.com/profile/boh3m3) are becoming familiar faces on Stickam, generating tens of thousands of page views and hundreds of friend adds.
Further evidence of the YouTube-Stickam cross-pollination is the Stickam profile “YouTube Chat” (http://www.stickam.com/profile/youtubechat), which gives hundreds of members a place to congregate in between YouTube celeb broadcasts.
Have any favorite YouTube users you'd like to see on the site? With increasing numbers of them now broadcasting on Stickam, it can only mean more interesting and live content for their fans.
Stickam will be streaming the Cathouse Hollywood 20th anniversary bash at the Keyclub in Hollywood. Be sure to check out Riki Rachtman's profile at 8:30 pm PST for the Live Party. More info at http://cathousehollywood.com/

October is here and even Los Angeles has a chill in the air – after sundown anyway. Things are buzzing at Stickam as we prepare for one of my favorite holidays, Halloween! What other day encourages you to parade around in disguise and consume mass amounts of sugar? My trick-or-treating days are a distant memory of pumpkin candy pails and smelly plastic costumes, but I still love the chance to indulge my silly, spooky side!
And on the topic of things Halloween, do Stickam members have any costume ideas in mind? I’m still deciding, so feel free to send me any suggestions. So far, I’m thinking of something inspired by one of my biggest Halloween weaknesses: Candy Corn.
YouTube stars prove real identity live on Stickam
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 05 -- Many of us might consider five hour live broadcasts the stuff of charity telethons, lengthy award shows, and championship sporting events with revealing half-time performances.
But for popular YouTube and MySpace personality Ben, known as “boh3m3,” a recent five hour live broadcast using the rapidly growing video chat and social networking site Stickam (www.stickam.com) was the perfect opportunity to confirm his true identity to thousands of online fans.
The identities of video bloggers have come under suspicion recently after YouTube phenomenon lonelygirl15, a supposed 15 year-old girl home schooled in the Midwest, was exposed as a 19 year-old actress led by a group of creative Los Angeles entrepreneurs.
In response, genuine high-profile video bloggers like boh3m3, who creates YouTube's 9th most subscribed channel (http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=boh3m3), are using Stickam’s unique broadcasting and social networking site as a valuable tool for confirming their true identities live.
Citing the “voyeuristic appeal of YouTube and web cam feeds," the 21 year-old waiter from Huntsville, Alabama used his Stickam player to broadcast live late September to many of his 2,000 MySpace friends and 11,000 plus YouTube subscribers.
“I think it's quite an awesome site,” boh3m3 said about Stickam. “I wouldn’t be surprised if more YouTube people started using it as a tool to talk to the fans.”
boh3m3 achieved instant popularity on Stickam after announcing his plans to “Go Live” on the site. Just hours after his post appeared on YouTube, nearly 1,000 new Stickam accounts were created, and hundreds of members signed onto boh3m3's friend list (http://www.stickam.com/profile/boh3m3). His profile received almost 10,000 views in just two days.
The success of boh3m3’s broadcast even inspired tributes from some devoted fans.
“It’s real, it’s live, it’s continuous -- you can’t stop. It’s amazing,” exclaimed an enthusiastic member of the sibling video blogging team “bermudeztriangle” in a post revealing their obsession with boh3m3’s marathon webcast (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1l6hl9h7gsI).
Other top YouTube stars are joining boh3m3 on Stickam, including Hollywood-based “GayGod.” In addition to receiving over 16,000 page views, the humorous 18 year-old hosts his own Stickam channel for over 1,000 friends (http://www.stickam.com/profile/gaygod).
“BowieChick,” an 18 year-old Oregon vlogger named Melody, is another YouTube personality (http://youtube.com/profile?user=bowiechick ) enjoying Stickam’s combined live broadcasting and social networking features.
“I love Stickam,” she posted the during boh3m3’s broadcast. Like thousands of other viewers, she couldn’t resist the appeal of a real live attraction.
Since its launch this February, Stickam has expanded the online broadcasting and media sharing experience for more than 150,000 members worldwide, including some online video’s most popular personalities.

To answer the comment left by Mitch on myspace issue post.

1. The amount of locking up and freezing/crashing of pages. So many people I talk to on here report the same issue. Click a link, and it freezes the browser solid (IE/Firefox/Safari) all seem to be affected.
We are aware of some of the Stickam profile pages freezing and we are diligently working on fixing this issue. If there are other pages that consistently freeze for you, please send a list of those to support@stickam.com, so we can further investigate if we can reproduce this in our testing environment. Also, if you can send us information about your connection, versions of browsers, version of flash, and applications that are currently running on your machine while you getting this problem, that would help us in troubleshooting the problem that you are experiencing.
2. Inconsistent server errors trying to go live with people. This happens quite a bit and not just to me.
We are aware of the errors that users are experiencing during "Go Live" and we are implenting updates that would improve the quality of our users' live chat session. The most common reason for the errors are not usually from our servers that distribute the live chat session feed, it is most commonly caused by the following: If the host chat session you're trying to log into is "busy", live chat sessions sometimes get interrupted because the users' (hosts as well as users in the hosts' room) own environment cannot handle all the events that are going on in the session. What do we mean by "busy"? Busy means that there are over 50 concurrent users text chatting, over 150 concurrent users (peepers) watching the videos, numerous concurrent users logging in and out of the hosts' session per second, and all 6 2-way videos are turned on. A busy session will increase the usage of your computer's CPU, memory, and network. Users with fast internet connection, decent computer (over 1GHz, 1G RAM) are more likely not to get errors from going live than users who have a less desirable computer environment. Also ,if your are logged into multiple live chat sessions, this will affect the quality of your live chat. The more live chat sessions you try to log into, the more resources you use up on your computer and the more likely you will get errors going live with people.
The errors on going live with people are usually limitations on the users' resource capabilities. Personal computers, internet connections, browsers, applications running, activites in the live session, number of open live session browsers are all factors in this. We have provided some settings on the host chat that would help in the performance of your live chat session such as "Chat Setting" - disable guests' video feed, broadcast only (if you're only doing a show), "Video Setting" - small, "User List" - update every 10 seconds. Moreover, we are currently adding in more performance settings that users can choose to set on their chat session to help the quality of their live chat session. Once these settings are ready, we will make them available to our users and provide tips on improving the quality of live chat session using the performance settings that we provide.
3. Usage. At the moment leaving Stickam on webcam chattig for even 2hrs a day each day for a month has a MASSIVE IMPACT on downloaded data. A preset list of rules need to be set to ensure a constant reasonable video quality, that wont destroy a download limit.
There are multiple things you can do as a Stickam user, if you are the host, I would suggest that you disable guests' video feed. This will help you with downloaded data. However, if you are logging into someone else's chat session, you can suggest to the host of the chat session to set his/her "Video Setting" to small. This setting will help both the host and the users in his/her chat session with the upload and download size of the live stream. You can also suggest for the host to disable the guests' video feed to help you and host with the downloaded data.
These settings are available in the Live Chat Settings menu. Users of Stickam have different needs, different PC environments, and different reasons for using the live chat feature and we have added some settings to try and meet a majority of our users' needs and to help improve the performance of the users' live chat session. Taking advantage of these settings is up to our users. And lastly, as I have mentioned above, we are currently implementing on adding more settings on the chat session that would help live session performance.
